Healthy Brain Night

Your brain runs your mood, your sleep, your stress and your energy, yet it is the part of your health that rarely gets looked at. In this free talk, Dr Ash Connell shows a brain and a heart rhythm working on screen, and leaves you with five small things you can start the next day.

Online on Zoom, Tuesday 13 October at 7:00pm. Free to attend, from anywhere in Australia, and every registrant gets the recording.

On the night

What you’ll see

A brain, working, on screen.

In a recorded demonstration, a volunteer wears an EEG cap and you watch the signal change as they open and close their eyes, do a sum and clench their jaw.

Your breath and your heart rhythm.

Everyone breathes along for a few minutes while Dr Ash’s heart rate variability display shows the rhythm changing in real time.

BRAIN: five letters to take home.

A simple framework from Dr Ash’s book, with one everyday action for each letter. You leave with a place to start tomorrow.

Straight answers.

What brain measurement can and can’t tell you, a few common misconceptions, and where this kind of care sits alongside your GP. Time for questions at the end.

The demonstration shows how the equipment works. Nobody’s brain is assessed or interpreted in front of the room.

Who it’s for

Anyone curious about their brain

You look after your heart, your bloods and your bones, and you wonder about the part that runs all of them. You might be living with stress, light sleep or a mind that won’t switch off, or you might simply want to stay sharp and present for the years ahead. Partners, family members and carers are welcome.

This is general education, not personal advice. There’s nothing to prepare and no obligation.

Good to know

Common questions

Does it cost anything?

No. Both nights are free, and there’s no obligation. Registering just helps us plan the room and send you reminders.

Will anyone assess my brain on the night?

No. It’s a general education talk. The live demonstration shows how the equipment works, and nobody’s results are interpreted in front of the room. If you have a personal question, Dr Ash is happy to chat afterwards, or you can book a consultation.

Can I bring someone?

Yes. Anyone can watch alongside you on the same screen. If they’d like their own link, they can register too.

What do I need for the online night?

A computer, tablet or phone with sound. Zoom runs in a web browser, so you don’t need to install anything. We’ll email the link before the night.

I can’t make it on the night. Can I still watch?

Yes. Register anyway and we’ll email you the recording afterwards.

Will there be an in-person night?

Yes, we’re planning one in Portarlington. Tick the box when you register, or check back here.

Scope & safety

Education events are general health information, not personalised clinical advice, and they aren’t a substitute for assessment by a registered health practitioner. We work alongside — not in place of — primary medical and psychological care. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call 000 or Lifeline 13 11 14.
